You’ll notice a recurring theme as you go through this website and read more about NFL Pool. That theme is “single screen interface”. The NFL league standings also appear in the main screen.
As weeks are completed and locked down in the main screen, the NFL Standings are calulated and can be displayed and printed at any time. These standings are for informational purposes and can be of help to the user when making his own picks for an upcoming week. The standings display average points scored (APF) and anverage points given up (APA) as a typical guide to season performance.
Notice how clean the single screen interface is. You don’t have to go navigating through multiple screens to get done what you need to get done. Compare NFL Pool 2005 to other application designs and you’ll see what we mean.
The players weekly standings and players season standings are always displayed on the main screen along with the current week’s schedule and the currently selected user’s picks. It’s all right there for your consumption and use.
When we were designing NFL Pool 2005 we looked at the other appications out there and we were very disappointed. Many have multiple tabbed dialogs and multiple screens that you have to navigate through to get the information you need. Our first rule when designing NFL Pool 2005 was “Keep it simple stupid...” I think we accomplished that with a clean single interface design. We kinda like the helmet graphics too.
The only other window in the application (besides the ABOUT screen of course) is the player’s contacts database. 99.9% of the work you do with NFL Pool 2005 will be in the single main window shown above.
